Today, our daily lives have been splurged by overloaded information and technologies, which caused the planned obsolescence strategy and a shift in the consuming culture. Technologies and the Internet of Things (IoT) has connected us more than ever, and everything seems to become convenient to buy and easy to own. Electronic gadgets and fashion items have filled our surroundings and leaves no gap to rethink what the value of design truly means, while the planned obsolescence causes irreversible environmental consequences. The research offers an explanation of planned obsolescence in product design and how it changed the consuming culture, and then examines the ethical responsibility of designers under the framework of Circular Economy. This paper is to provide different perspectives in design thinking and environmental ethics for the product designer, and the conclusions as followed: 1. Planned obsolescence and the constant upgrades have stimulated the makers to design higher quality product, which consequently strengthen the market competitiveness, brand value, and social progress. 2. The fundamental difference between eco-friendly design and circular product design is waste management. To achieve the zero waste in the life cycle of a product, designers are encouraged to have a different type of design thinking, promoting innovation and stronger environmental ethic. 3. The value of product can be reshaped by the circular design. The balance of consumer satisfactory, profit value, and design ethic will be the key to build a greater foundation of the design industry.

在充斥過度訊息與技術的今天,溯源於計劃性拋棄的策略於消費文化之轉變。高科技及物聯網(IoT)使我們比以往任何時候都更加緊密而且一切都似乎變得便於購買並且易於擁有。電子產品和流行時尚填滿了每一處,讓人們沒有任何重新思考設計價值的空間,而計劃性拋棄更帶來了對環境無可逆轉的影響。本研究提供了計劃性拋棄對於產品設計如何改變消費文化,以及在循環經濟體系下去思考設計師的道德責任。本文旨在為產品設計師提供不同的設計思維和環境倫理觀點,並得出如下結論:1.計劃性拋棄和不斷升級的策略刺激了製造商設計出更高質量的產品,從而增強了市場競爭力,品牌價值和社會進步。2.環保設計和循環產品設計的根本區別在於廢物管理。為了實現產品生命週期中的零浪費,鼓勵設計師採用不同類型的設計思維,促進創新和強化環境倫理。3.產品的價值可以通過循環設計來重塑。消費者滿意度、利潤價值和設計倫理的平衡將成為構建設計行業更穩固之基礎的關鍵。
