近幾年來,繪本應用於特殊教育需求學童的教學已廣受教師與家長重視。一些實證性研究也都證實繪本教學可以提升特殊需求幼童的語言、前讀寫技能或是社交技巧。繪本插圖漂亮、可愛、引人入勝,文本內容或是語句結構常具備重複與可預期的特徵,這些優點使其極為適合用來發展特殊需求幼童的語言能力與前讀寫技能。本文說明以繪本為媒材設計語言、前讀寫技能教學活動的基本概念,並以繪本故事書「好餓的毛毛蟲」編擬教學活動,以供家長、教師、語言治療師參考。

Picture books, with its characteristics of colorful/vivid illustration, attractive story line, reduplicated sentences or concepts and interesting rhythm, make itself to be an excellent tool to address language and pre-literacy skills. Actually, it is well established that picture books were widely used and helpful in improving young children with special needs to develop language and pre-literacy skills. The current article aims to present the theoretical background and practical activities relating to picture books teaching. In addition, an example of teaching activities based on the picture book "The very hungry caterpillar" were developed for showing how to design language (semantics and syntax) and pre-literacy teaching activities.
