In recent years, the government's expenditure in the field of health care is increasing, but the efficiency of health care expenditure and its influencing factors are a very noteworthy problem. This paper selects the panel data of 11 cities in Jiangxi Province from 2015 to 2019, calculates the efficiency of government medical and health expenditure through Three‐stage DEA model, and then uses Tobit regression model to explore the influencing factors of medical and health expenditure efficiency. The results show that the efficiency of medical and health expenditure of all cities in Jiangxi Province shows an upward trend as a whole, and there are differences in the efficiency of expenditure among cities. Among them, the efficiency of Nanchang, Pingxiang, Xinyu and Shangrao is higher, and the efficiency of Fuzhou is lower; There is a negative correlation between per capita GDP and comprehensive technical efficiency, and a positive correlation between urbanization level and it; There is a positive correlation between urbanization level, general public budget expenditure and pure technical efficiency; Per capita GDP and general public budget expenditure are negatively correlated with scale efficiency, and the level of urbanization is positively correlated with it; Population density has no significant effect on the three efficiency. Finally, based on the above conclusions, the corresponding policy suggestions are put forward.
