TXNIP plays an important role in inhibiting the occurrence and development of tumors. Known as a serine/threonine protein kinase, GSK3β was recognized to regulate various tumor-related biological processes. However, the regulatory relationship between GSK3β and TXNIP has not been reported. In this study, bioinformatic analysis showed that both the expression of TXNIP or GSK3β is positively correlated with overall survival of lung cancer patients. In lung adenocarcinoma cells, the expression of TXNIP was decreased compared to the human bronchial epithelioid cells. Subsequently, we found that the expression of TXNIP was up-regulated when GSK3β was overexpressed, and down-regulated by the knockdown of GSK3β in lung adenocarcinoma cells. Taken together, our data showed that the expression of TXNIP was positively related with the expression of GSK3β, hinting a hypothesis in which GSK3β might be involved in the development of lung adenocarcinoma through regulation of TXNIP expression.
