A break point test applied in double-mass analysis is employed here to distinguish the break point of the descending runoff data series through the use of the cumulative area percentage (CA) and corresponding cumulative discharge (CQ). The point next to the break point leads a series of data points called the "linear inertia chain". The data to be included in this chain should build a good linear relation by plotting CA against CQ. This linear model resulting from consideration of linear inertia chain; therefore, provides a tool to estimate the runoff volume over a large area such as a nation or an island. Two examples were performed to test this method. |
