This is a technical report documenting the author's experience interpreting in a high-stake political press conference held in Taiwan. By adopting an autoethnographic approach, the report documents the epiphanies of this personal journey, including the internal debates about whether to accept or decline the offer, the pre-assignment preparatory work, and the thoughts and emotions when performing the job. The report then provides a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the interpreter's delivery fluency by examining the speech rate and type of disfluencies. Pedagogical implications on sight translation from Chinese to English is offered by introducing the chromatographic method, which can be seen as vertical segmentation. To conclude, the relevance of the autoethnographic approach in bringing to light more personal stories in the post-Covid world is discussed.
