36歲男性患有僵直性脊椎炎（Ankylosing spondylitis），患者於2020年02月10日至臺北榮民總醫院傳統醫學部門診就診，主要症狀為腰背痠痛、俯仰不利、晨僵。中醫辨證為痰溼熱瘀阻筋脈、胃失和降、肝鬱化火、肝腎虧虛，治則為清熱除溼、活血通絡、和胃降逆、疏肝清熱、滋養肝腎。持續追蹤治療11次後，患者腰部痠痛、俯仰不利、晨僵、全身麻木、善太息等症狀均顯著改善。患者於就診傳統醫學部門診後未服用西藥治療，本病例報告顯示使用中藥治療可有效緩解僵直性脊椎炎之複雜症狀，可提供中藥治療相關疾病之參考。
英文摘要

This 36-year-old male diagnosed as Ankylosing spondylitis, and his chief symptoms of back pain, pitching, and morning stiffness bothered him. Due to these discomforts, he came to Taipei Veterans General Hospital on Feb 10, 2020 for Chinese herbal medicine therapy. The Tradition Chinese Medicine (TCM) pattern included "Phlegm, dampness, heat and blood stasis blocking tendons and veins" , "stomach disharmony", "Liver depression transforms fire" and "Liver and kidney deficiency", while its treatment is "Clearing heat for removing dampness" , "Promoting blood circulation for removing obstruction in collaterals", "Harmonizing stomach and lowering adverse qi", "Soothing the liver and clearing heat" and "Nourishing the liver and kidney". After following up about 11 times, the patient effectively improved the symptoms of waist soreness, pitching, morning stiffness, general numbness and other symptoms. The patient did not take conventional medicine after TCM therapy, and this Case report showed that TCM therapy could relieve the symptoms of Ankylosing spondylitis without conventional medicine. It could provide another new concept for TCM therapy.
