蛇串瘡，中醫學稱為「纏腰火丹」，俗稱「蜘蛛瘡」，現代醫學稱為「帶狀庖疹」，多因正氣虛弱，邪毒乘機入侵傷及肝膽兩經，致使經脈瘀滯，溫熱內蘊，阻於肌膚而成本病。除內服清熱解毒、健脾利濕、活血化瘀中藥外，臨床上針灸可配合使用，毫針加火針治療，如虎添翼，效果更佳。

Snake strand sore (she chuan chuang) is referred to as red lumbar-winding fire (chan yao huo dan) in Chinese medicine, and commonly referred to as spider sore (zhi zhu chuang). In modern medicine it is called herpes zoster. The most common factors leading to outbreaks are due to weakness of right qi with opportunistic evil toxin invading the liver and gallbladder channels, which then leads to stasis and stagnation in the channel vessels with warm heat sweltering internally and blocking the skin. Besides orally taking herbs to clear heat and resolve toxin, fortify spleen and disinhibit damp or invigorate blood and transform stasis, treatment combined with a heated filiform needle (fire needle) greatly reinforces the treatment and produces superior results.
