This paper highlights an ethical turn that considers the relationality between playwright and text, between performance and interview subjects in Twilight: Los Angeles, 1992 by Anna Deavere Smith. Therefore, I will depart from what Smith has termed ”Other-oriented” technique by which she conducts the interviews, creates the text, and formulates the acting style. Thus, I will first examine the way Smith conducts the interviews, and then explicate the performance strategies. In this sense, I suggest that only by analyzing the structure, rather than the value, of conduction, text, and performance can we locate the embedded ethic bias/prejudice.
