英文摘要 |
The purpose of this essay is to pinpoint the evolution of the pictorial language of Antonio López García from the perspective of color expression. The painter is best known for his long duration of work and his stunningly realistic painting of Madrid cityscapes. However, this is not the case with his early paintings. Why is the transformation between the early and later styles so evident? What does the painter seek in the pictorial language? Also, how does the evolution to the latter phase take place? The concept of "color" is a threshold in this study, which illuminates the compositional relation and the process of López's paintings. The evolution of color expression has an intertextual connection with López's life experiences. This study discovers that the transformation of López's pictorial language springs from the experiment of color composition. Instead of mere representation, he seeks the autonomy of color and its force. |
