In Ming scholars points of view that focuses on critical comments on The Lute, this study tries to use Reception Aesthetics to identify how scholars explore the change of history of the ancient Chinese drama stemming from the interaction between readers and writers in the transition from Nanxi (the Southern Drama) to the Chuangi Drama. First, the findings show that the scholars were the major groups that were involved in the Ming-Ching Chuanqi Drama. Next, The Lute was regarded as the origin of the Southern Drama and the intergrades of the Chuangi Drama and the scholars revised and adapted this semi-finished material, The Lute, for the next generation drama. Therefore, these revisions for The Lute were viewed as the establishment of the Chuangi Drama in practice. In addition, this study indicates that The Lute used the previous drama as its background and achieved great attainment by the support of many Ming scholars. Then, The Lute became the main stream in drama due to the great popularity and acceptability. Consequenth, this study suggests that reading can be an act of literary creation-the readers may accept the literary genres and also may affect it. |
