就隋唐演義系列小說的發展來看，清代刊刻的《說唐》跳脫按鑑演義的敘事模式，而以亂世英雄為故事的主要內容，是系列小說中英雄傳奇類型的集大成之作。《說唐》最特別之處，正是以十八條好漢的活動為觀照歷史的主體，將隋唐之際的歷史敷演成一群好漢的集體大紀傳；而其「好漢排行榜」的結構在小說敘事模式的發展上更是值得重視。雖然《說唐》在民間流傳廣泛，但是相關的研究論述卻很少。因此，本文具體分析《說唐》中十八條好漢的敘事內容，並進而探討作者從中傳達的文化意涵，期能對這個較少受到學界關注的課題有所開拓。

As to the developments of the historical series novels in the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, ”Shuo Tang”(《說唐》), published in the Qing Dynasty, did not use the narrative pattern, ”writing the novel according to the history, ”but instead took the chaotic time hero as the primary coverage of the story, which makes it the best work of the heroic legend type in the series novel. The most special place about ”Shuo Tang” is that it precisely takes 18 real men's activities as the main body of the contemplation history, and therefore creates a group of real men's collective biography throughout the history of the Sui Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty. The ”real man ranking” structure in the development of the novel narrative pattern is worth noting and should be taken seriously. However, although ”Shuo Tang” spreads widely in the folktales, related research elaborating on it has been actually very few. Therefore, this article analyzed the 18 real men's narrative contents in ”Says Tang” and discussed the cultural meaning the author tried to transmit, with the hope to explore a significant area not receiving enough attention in the research literature.
