本文從經濟思想的角度，從古希臘時代開始探討資本主義思想的演進與形成，以及兩千多年來累積而成的經濟哲學與文化精神資產，佐以政治環境脈絡的描述，逐步探討社會企業的源起及各國發展分歧的原因與現況。希冀能為各國社會企業發展的異同提出一脈相承之理，並加強前因後果的連結，讓研究者從經濟及政治思想的演繹上對社會企業能有更深刻的瞭解。最後，依照前述邏輯反觀臺灣的社會企業，並且透過探討臺灣特有的政治、社會、自然背景，展望臺灣社會企業的未來發展。

This paper discusses the philosophical origin of social enterprises, the causes of the division across Europe and the U.S., and their current developments. It reviews these issues from the angle of economic thoughts since the ancient Greek era, which includes the formation of capitalism and the legacy accumulated through the past two thousand years associated with the political landscapes of two continents. It expects to provide a thorough reason for the diverse developments, strengthen the connections between causes and effects, and shed light on the deduction of understanding in economic and political thoughts. Lastly, this paper follows the logic above to examine the development of social enterprises in Taiwan and look into the future by taking the political, social and natural backgrounds into account.
