台南市長榮高級中學田徑隊自1979年成軍，迄今已有28年之久，獲得不少優秀成績，曾在全國田徑分齡錦標賽高男組榮獲十四連霸，並在全國中等學校運動會獲得過十次高男組田徑總錦標冠軍，更在台灣區高男組田徑運動獲得「南長榮，北西湖」的稱號。本研究主要在探討台南市長榮高級中學田徑隊之發展過程，包括成立的時代背景、發展歷程、訓練概況及成績發展。本研究主要採用歷史研究法及訪談法，透過史料文獻分析與訪談紀錄，作一概括性的整理，以呈現台南市長榮高級中學田徑運動發展的全貌。研究範圍是長榮中學1979年成立田徑隊至2006年期間的背景與發展過程，得到研究結果如下：一、田徑隊之成立，乃第七任校長蘇進安校長大力支持及推動，學校行政人員的互相幫忙與協助，董事會的後援。二、長榮中學田徑隊成績能有如此輝煌的表現，有賴於楊文弘老師的全心投入，日復一日的訓練選手，二十幾年來，不論颳風、下雨從未間斷，才能造就輝煌成績。三、學校會為學生做升學的規劃，儘可能讓學生在田徑場上取得保送資格，並加強學生課業，讓學生考上師範大學或師範院校，取得教職。四、近年來，田徑成績逐漸走下坡，這需要政府單位及學校行政人員、教練一起尋找解決的辦法，才能在高中田徑界重現「南長榮」的聲譽。

The track and field team of Chang-Jung Senior High School has established for twenty-eight years and earned a lot of brilliant achievements since 1979. It has got the fourteenth consecutive title of the national high school athletic age group championships. Moreover, it has got the championships of the national high school athletic games for ten times. The main purpose of this study is to explore the developmental process of the track and field team of Chang-Jung Senior High School, including the establishing background, the developmental process, the training condition and the grades of the development. The study adopts historical research and interview method. The literature review is collected, analyzed and integrated to indicate the team's development from1979 to 2006. The finding can be concluded as follow: 1. The establishing of the track and field team is supported by the principal , Su Jin- An, the administrators and the directorate. 2. More then twenty years, the couches, Yang Wen-Hong, involved himself in teaching the athletes. Because of that, the track and field team in Chang-Jung Senior High School established a lot of brilliant achievements. 3. The School plan perfect channels to help students enter the college. Students hope to get the admissibility to teacher's college, and be a teacher in the future. 4. In recent years, the grades of the track and field got worse and worse. It needs the government, the administrators and the couches all together to figure out the ways to solve the problems.
