Learning Chinese characters has always been the most difficult part for Chinese language learners. Therefore, how to have the learners learn Chinese characters step by step becomes the object that should be emphasized in teaching foreigners Chinese language. Especially, editing Chinese character set can serve as a sound teaching material for the teachers and the learners. Thus, based on the foundation of research done by researchers in the past, this thesis proposes several standards of editing Chinese character set for teaching foreigners Chinese language, including: The standard of source of Chinese character to be judged as the official or regular styles The standard of recognizing Chinese characters through signs/images The standard of framework of character's form and the structure of square The standard of word establishment and syntax The standard of designing multi-media teaching materials Comparison and analysis of Chinese character learning levels for foreigners in Taiwan in this paper and the learning levels in mainland China currently We recommend that students learn Chinese character between Taiwan and Chian It is then expected that we may extract Chinese characters that are "Easy to Write", "Easy to Use", "Easy to Memorize", and "Easy to Design" so as to function as reference for editing character set in the future. To achieve this goal, we adopt 214 radicals to be the operation subjects in practice, and attempts to classify them into learning levels.
