Mountain hiking has been recognized as a leisure activity beneficial to physical and mental health, promoting circulation and delaying aging. With increasing public awareness of the benefits of mountain hiking for enhancing physical abilities, the population of mountain hikers is growing, and the average age is also increasing. Recognizing the growing population of mountain hikers, in order to reduce the risks and fatigue effects of mountain hiking, the use and improvement of aids related to mountain hiking are also increasing. This study preliminarily explores the perception and effects of compression socks, including understanding the principles and functions of compression socks, exploring the classification and levels of compression socks, investigating mountain hikers' awareness of compression socks and protective measures, and finally providing conclusions and recommendations for mountain hikers or the general public. This study specifically surveyed 100 mountain hikers, with 94 valid responses. The data analysis showed that mountain hikers tend to be older, with about 22% using compression socks, and there is insufficient awareness of compression socks, leading to improper usage causing cramps, varicose veins, and other issues. Additionally, mountain hikers have insufficient awareness of compression socks, with only about 22% using them, and there is a need to promote protective measures for mountain hiking. Further cross-analysis did not confirm that wearing compression socks leads to better improvement in preventing slipping, lower limb swelling, and cramps. Due to the small sample size, further experimental research is necessary.
