聽損兒童常面臨語言與讀寫發展的問題,也因此從幼兒階段即提供必要的支持與學習環境,對其未來學業、人際發展必有所助益。為能降低聽損兒童在進入小學時使用語言學習與閱讀的困難,家長與教師應從讀寫萌發階段即可開始提供各項支持性的活動、策略。以讀寫萌發的論點來看,幼兒讀寫能力的發展與口語學習有密切與雙向關係,兩者的發展可說是同時與交互影響的。也因此善用讀寫萌發階段,提供適當的支持環境與引導活動,不但能幫助聽損幼兒發展基本的讀寫技能,也能在豐富的圖文環境中,促進其語言之發展。
