Purpose: Yoga exercise as an intervention to explore the effect on the Attention of pre-school children.Method: The experimental group was proceeded the yoga exercise 40 minutes, 3 times per week, lasting 8 weeks, compared with a control group. There were totally 52 participants. All the participants have taken the researcher-designed ”attention T test” base on Treisman's Feature Integration theory before and after the 8 weeks' yoga course, each test time lasting for 60 seconds. The accuracy of letter-circling was used as the dependent variable.Result: 1. The pre- and post test scores of experimental group were 11.58 ± 3.18 and 15.13 ± 3.00, respectively. The 2 scores were significantly different via the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test of Nonparametric Test, p = .00, P < .05. 2. The pre- and post scores of control group were 10.23 ± 2.58 and 13.56 ± 2.42, respectively, also showing the significantly difference in the same statistic analysis, p = .00, P < .05. 3. The premise of experimental and control groups were proved to be homogeneous by analyzing their pre-tests. The Mann-Whitney Test was used to analyze the two groups' post-tests average score. The outcome also reach the significant difference (p = .025, P < .05).Conclusion: 1. Yoga as an intervention of preschool children could benefit their attention. 2. The Yoga course group showed better attention to the non-Yoga group |
