After Chi-Ching Hsia's strongly recommendation, Eileen Chang's literature accomplishments have been a fever for several decades among Chinese social communities. Her literature has influenced many contemporary writers. The academic world also has studied passionately about her, including her background and literature accomplishments. Among these studies, many researches have the points of view of aesthetics, patriarchal depression, and the abnormal psychology because of the imbalanced love and lust discussed In The Rough Of The North. However, in my point of view, although so far the academic world has solved part of the rough, and the external reasons for the metamorphosis, what interests me more is what does such an important literature work mean in gender equality. How can In The Rough Of The North not be rough any more? I will discuss from the object relations, re-analyze how the two sexes get along in In The Rough Of The North, attempt to find out the internal reason for the metamorphosis under the patriarchal depression and find the solution for the alienation in lives for the characters. Hoping to establish relationships with others successfully by starting to face one's own subjectivity, in order to get self salvation from the alienated relations and no rough in In The Rough Of The North.
