”The Fifteen Types of Happiness that Sado Brings” is a representative book on sado (the Japanese tea ceremony) written by Noriko Morishita that features lively content and natural emotions. With 25 years of sado experience, the author describes her understanding of the Japanese tea ceremony. This book is a simple and valuable work regarding sado. ”The Fifteen Types of Happiness that Sado Brings” was published by Acorn International Publishing Ltd., Taipei, Taiwan, in March 2012. However, an initial edition was published by Yi Fang Publishing Ltd., Taipei, in September 2002, with the title translated as ”Every Day is a Good Day for Tea-The Fifteen Types of Happiness that Sado Brings”. No preface was included in the first edition. However, excluding the title of the book and various chapters, the relevant content of the reprinted book contains no additions or deletions compared to the first edition. Although published a decade after the first edition, the reprint of ”The Fifteen Types of Happiness that Sado Brings” also received positive reviews from experts because it provides an authentic account of the author's experience learning sado and the lectures and examples of her teacher, Takeda. For people endeavoring to master the art of the Japanese tea ceremony, this book possesses significant referential value. This was the primary motivation for this study. The content of this study is primarily divided into the following two parts: (1) Takeda's 4 main teaching focuses, that is, following classic and traditional practices, mastering the external before the internal, managing the sado state, and observing and understanding; and (2) the 3 main levels of Noriko Morishita's understanding of the practice of sado, specifically, cultural cognition, the self-restraint of sado, and an understanding of life. |
