張東蓀的語言哲學是其哲學理論中的一個重要方面,學界對此卻鮮有論及者。張氏的語言哲學成就主要體現在:澄清了語言的本質與功用,主張言語本質上就是符號、就是概念的固定化,而言語的功用在於幫助人們提高想像力、理解力與抽象力;此外,張東蓀還論證了中國言語與民族心性的緊密關聯,研究了中國言語構造與中國哲學的內在聯繫。張東蓀以知識社會學的方法研究語言,是其語言哲學的特色所在。然而,由於張氏西學素養較高而中國哲學素養略有不足,導致其忽視了中西語言哲學之共性及其可會通處,表現出對中國語言哲學的些許貶低和輕視,又是其語言哲學不可原諒的失誤。

英文摘要

Zhang Dongsun's philosophy of language is an important aspect of his philosophical theory, which is rarely discussed in academic circles. The achievements of Zhang's philosophy of language are mainly reflected in the following aspects: clarifying the nature and function of language, holding that speech is essentially a symbol and the immobilization of concepts, and the function of speech is to help people improve their imagination, understanding and abstraction; In addition, Zhang Dongsun also demonstrates the close relationship between Chinese language and national spirit, and studies the internal relationship between the structure of Chinese language and Chinese philosophy. Zhang Dongsun's study of language with the method of sociology of knowledge is the characteristic of his philosophy of language. However, due to Zhang's high quality of western learning and his lack of Chinese philosophy, he neglected the commonness and commonality of Chinese and western philosophy of language, and belittled and despised Chinese philosophy of language, which was an unforgivable mistake of his philosophy of language. Therefore, it is of great significance to study and summarize the theoretical gains and losses of Zhang Dongsun's philosophy of language, which can contribute to the construction of the philosophy of language system with Chinese characteristics.
