注意力是一種心理的運作歷程，選手在競賽期閒可否集中注意力，或他（她）到底在想什麼，外人很難能夠去察覺洞悉。然因運動項目屬性的不同，選手在比賽的情境中，其所要求的注意型態及範圍目標也會產生差異，若選手在比賽中的注意型態能與該項運動所需的注意型態相配合的話，則對於成績的提昇將有絕對性的正面影響，由此可見，注意力是否集中在運動競技中乃是一項不可或缺的特殊要求。
