The gap between school and workplace has been one of the main focuses in professional education for a long time. Therefore, the present study proposes an instructional model based on industry-university cooperation that applies e-mentoring supported by human resource experts to enhance graduate students' competencies of designing training programs. An experimental instruction is designed and employed in a course named "training program design" to examine the effectiveness of implementing this model, followed by gathering the feedback from learner and experts. The findings have shown that the model can not only shorten the gap between school and workplace but also benefit all three fields, including students, school and the practical field. Students, instructor and mentors taking part in the instructional experimental study all highly acknowledge the significant effectiveness of implementing this model. According to the results of the present study, significant references and suggestions are provided for practical application and future study on this new instructional model.
