This study aims to explore the expectation of clinical nurses' continuing education course on nurse-patient communication about sex for the development of appropriate strategies of sexual health education in line with the actual situation. Qualitative methods were used to an online Facebook focus group to explore the nurses' perception and expectation of a continuing education course on nurse-patient communication about sex. Ten nurses working in a medical center in northern Taiwan were recruited as the research subjects, and invited to join an online Facebook group and discuss the subjective learning needs. The results indicate that ideal nature of the course should be "time saving and efficient," "flexible in time and course selection" and "certified"; An ideal way of the course is blended teaching, including online teaching as well as learning supplemented by offline classroom. The online course in total should be within 2 hours, offline classroom is preferably 1-2 hours. The content of sexual health should include "the scope of sexual health care" and "skills of talking about sex with clients". In addition, the course should be certified as continuing education credits to raise the learning incentive. The results of this study provide a reference for the development of appropriate strategies for clinical nurses' continuing education course on nurse-patient communication about sex, thereby enhance their ability to provide sexual health care in the future.
