|With the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020, all aspects of life, including international exchanges, have been greatly impacted. However, few have focused on the needs of support that was urgently needed by the relatively disadvantaged exchange students. Therefore in this study 15 Taiwanese exchange students were chosen as the survey subject to explore the needs of support they needed and actually obtained under the spread of the Covid-19. Semi-structured interview was employed in this study and the collected data was analyzed by KJ methods with a capture rate. The results show that the support can be divided into seven categories: "reliable pandemic policy", "economic support", "material support", "academic support", "support of social activities", "support of returning home" and "mental support". Among them, exchange students who received "mental support" from Japan were more satisfied with the support they received. The significance of this study is to elucidate the actual situation experienced during studying abroad in an unprecedented situation, and to provide suggestions for crisis management and overseas student.|With the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in 2020, all aspects of life, including international exchanges, have been greatly impacted.
