中文摘要

Background & Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of bone mineral density and health-related fitness for postmenopausal women in metropolitan area after fitness walking proceeding for 26 weeks. Methods: postmenopausal women living in Da-an District were chosen as research samples. Beattie's model was used as conducting strategy. Methods for carrying out the program included health advertisement, walking 10,000 steps for fitness daily etc. Tests of healthrelated fitness were performed prior, between and after the fitness walking program, including BMI, muscle strength, endurance, body flexibility, cardiorespiratory endurance and bone mineral density. Analysis of identical subject with repeated measures was utilized to compare the effects of conducting process. Results: The majorities (59%) were in the age of 50-59 among totally 56 volunteers. 95% of the volunteers felt exercise is beneficial for health. 43% of the participants exercised at least three times weekly holding for more than 30 minutes per workout. 24 volunteers (42.86%) completed the 26-week fitness walking program. The test results of physical fitness show that the body flexibility and cardiorespiratory endurance had reached the degree of significant difference (p<.05). Conclusion: Handling household matters might be the reason for those women not finishing the 26-week walking activity. Enhancement of health concept is needed in the future. The workout program conducted this time did not cover weight-bearing or resistance training, resulted in the performance of bone density, muscular strength and muscular endurance. Although the statistical differences were not significant, the effects of each index still show in progress. Furthermore, data analyses did not include nutrition intake records that may affect bone mineral density. Follow-up research regarding to this issue is recommended.
