(2012b)the transition sound of the Taiwanese suffixation word kim.a ''''gold''''「台語後綴詞『金仔』之過渡音研究」的基礎上,針對其所提出「金仔」過渡音[kim^(ma)a]的結論,進一步分析該詞彙的聲調語音表徵形式。

This paper is based on the finding of Lin (2012b) "the transition sound of the Taiwanese suffixation word kim.a 'gold'", which states that the phonetic realization of the word kim.a 'gold' is [kim^(ma)a] rather than [kimma], and this present study tries to explore further the phonetic tonal representation of the word. Twelve native speakers were chosen randomly as the participants. The twelve voice samples indicate that the tonal behavior of the word kim.a may undergo two phonological stages; namely, mutual assimilation and bidirectional spreading. In the first stage, the two tones 33 53 of kim^(33)a^(53) are assimilated to each other to a certain degree and surface the form [335] for the stem and [553] for the suffix. In the second stage, a transition tone is produced to occupy a juncture position by means of bidirectional spreading. As a result, it may surface one possible tonal realization of [335^(55)553] rather than the conventional form of [33 53] or [35 53].
