Science and technology in the 21st century are substantially influencing the development of high technology industries, such as electronics, semi-conductor and biotechnology. These are not only the key technologies for the new century, but also guiding the world toward to a wealthy and prosperous era. Biotechnology has been considered as the most potential industry for this century. In Taiwan, the biotechnology industry also follow the world trend, and rewards are expected by investors. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the impact factors of the business values of the biotechnology industry in Taiwan by the use of the balanced scorecard and to apply the results as suggestions to companies for formulating strategies for enhancing the business value.
