Aim: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the exercise habits and sleep quality of the college students. The participants included 465 college students (108 male students with mean age 18.9±0.8 years old and 357 female students with mean age 18.8±0.7 years old). Sleep quality was assessed by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). All data were processed by SPSS for windows 18.0 system. The investigated values were presented by descriptive statistics method and chi-square test. Results: 1. In the exercise habits, 33.8% of students exercise frequency is one day a week; in the exercise duration, 38.5% of them are 30-60 min/time; in the sport type, 69.0% of ball game is the most. 2. In the relationship between exercise habits and sleep quality, 53.1% students with good sleep quality who are exercise habit. 3. In the bedtime, 37.6% for late at night from 12:00 to 1:00 am. 4. Sleep quality is related to bedtime and sleep duration (p<.05), and other exercise habits, while no significant difference (p> .05). Conclusion: In this study we found that students with exercise habits can have better sleep quality and the bedtime too late to affect the sleep duration. We should encourage students to go to bed before 11:00, to improve the personal sleep duration and sleep quality. |
